96 mustang changed tranny and fuel pump. has gas won't start need help?
the question u need to ask is what plug under the hood is not plugged in at all or not connected all the way. im asuming the trans was not done in a shop and the motor was let to hang once the trans was removed and it prob pulled a plug partally apart.
i am a hot rod builder and love to see a new fuel injected monster in a old car. latest project is a 96 4.6 ltr. in to a 32 rat rod all comp controlled and daily driveable.
Tough question because if it used to run, it should run after tranny and fuel pump, since it cranks and has fuel pressure.
My best guess is that in order to take out the tranny, you had to take out the starter at well, and when you put the wires back on, you left off the power to the igntion or fuel injection.
Use an inductive timing light or spare spark plug to determine if you have spark.
If you don't, then it is a question of power to the ignition circuit.
Second though is just having fuel at the rail is not the same as having enough pressure.
has gas up to the rail you say? it could be the fuel pump regulator stopping the gas from reaching the injectors. in case you don,t know where it is, it,s bolted up on the fuel rail. it can,t be the pump or the fuel filter if gas is reaching up to the rail. and it can,t be the relay or the pump would,nt kick on. change the regulator and see if it starts.

Have 1989 chevy truck v8 tbi going to install 1976 chevy v8 with carb.changed fuel pump now what?
do i change distributor to wire it up? alternators? is that all? HELP....
Have 1989 chevy truck v8 tbi going to install 1976 chevy v8 with carb.changed fuel pump now what?
Yeah you want the old style distributer with the vacum advance since the one that came with the tbi engine is controlled by the ecm.

why are you leaving the throttle body and going to the carb? buy a chilton's if you are mechanically inclined. It is a very useful manual and should answer most questions you will have later also.
You're going to need all the wiring from the 89 along with the sensors and PCM changed into the 76. You might even need the steering column of at least some more power supplies to the motor. This is a big job.

2002 cavalier won't start. 2 months ago changed the fuel pump thinking it was that.?
some more information would be helpful, however my first guess is an in line fuel filter. And if you have been buying gas at those inexpensive gas stations, crawl under the car, find the fuel filter change it to a new one then go fill your car up with chevron unleaded and drive drive drive until the tank is low, then fill it up again, here is why
el cheapo gas companies buy what is called bid gas, this is gas that is contaminated with water and tiny bits of crap. (too many particles per billion) the good companies like chevron and costco and some others, refuse to buy this from the refineries. and have placed orders with the refineries, ahead of time and ordered good gas with their own additives. And some other company bids on the contaminated fuel, it is gas, your car will run on it, but over time, hard deposits can build up, which plug up fuel filters and fuel injectors over time.
I like chevron, it has techron, which is a fuel system cleaner you can buy in any auto parts store. However, it is easier to pay a few more cents a gallon now, and keep your fuel system clean to begin with, than go back and try to clean out tine orifices that are in fuel injection systems later.
if you have a fuel pump in the gas tank, it was designed to run cooler, by being surrounded by fuel, so it is best to keep your tank full, and as an added benefit, a full tank, means less condensation (water) on the metal surfaces inside the tank, (particularly in winter) if you keep your tank mostly empty, and use inexpensive fuels, this can cause long term problems, such as excess water in the gas, and plugged fuel filters things like that which can mimic fuel pump problems.

Need more info. Does the engine turn over and not start? 1st ck to see if its delivering fuel to determine if its a fuel problem. If it isnt you can ck the in line fuel filter and all fuses. Find out if cavaliers have a fuel pump reset switch. If all thats ok follow the wire harness from the pump to where it ends and ck for damaged wires. When you turn the key to accesessary or 1st click w/out trying to start you should hear the fuel pump cycle for about 15 seconds. Hope this helps.

1) check battery
2) check fuses
3) check your gas cap is on completely
4) alternator problem
5) starter problem
6) fuel pump problem.
although if your car has driven since the fuel pump swap, chance are its not that. My first guess is the battery, and other elements of the electrical.
What sound does the car make when turning over?
Does it make any noise when you try to start it?database ittwit

1999 nissan maxima won't start. changed fuel pump and have spark?
OK, tech stuff is nice if you know what your doing or maybe you play around with your car alot. But lets start, with the idea that you don't know anything and would like to take a shot at finding the problem. First off when you say %26quot;won't start', does this means that the engine cranks but won't fire up. So lets start from the beginning. Your battery should have 14.5 volts at a standstill. Use a volt meter to ck this. Then crank the engine with your key. The cranking voltage can't go below 10.5 volts or the engine won't start. At this point lets say that the engine cranks and has the required voltage. This solves the possible first problem area. Next pull a spark plug and look at its color. If its black and wet, the plug is fouled out and will need to be cleaned or replaced. Next if you have a good spark plug or a screwdriver, ck that you have spark. Ok , lets say the plugs are good and you have spark, so we go on to fuel. When we had carbs it was simple, but with fuel injection the rules changed. First crank the engine and using a screw driver (one that is long) put one end on the injector base and the hander end to your ear. You should hear a tapping or clicking noise. You hear the noise, that's good, no noise, get the car to a dealer. Next you need a fuel pressure gague. Your fuel system is a closed loop type. Meaning, at the the you crank the engine, there should be fuel comming from the gas tank to the engine and back. Not only do you need fuel flow but you also need pressure. I don't remember the correct pressure, but a steady 35 lbs. will do. Now stop cranking the engine, your pressure should stay. If it drops real fast you have a problem or two. Example: open injector, open one way value, leaking fuel line and such. At this point something should show up as being wrong, including the anti-thief system. If your problem does not show itself, get your car to the dealer. You could even have a mechanical problem or maybe two problems. Just remember to do the easy things first, maybe your out of fuel. Now if you can follow what I have said, them good. If I lost you, just get the car to a dealer. This is as simple as I can make it for you. Good luck, T-Bear.

How about this one. You recently lost a key and had one made. or the spair key is now being used? Sound likely? or the key your using is beat up. 1999 Maxima's have Imobilizer called NATS embedded Chip key. That chip close to the antennia coil around the ingnition lock sends a signal to the Smart Entry control that allows the ECM to turn on and car to start. If you used a NOID light you would see that the injector pulse was not there. Nissan calls this LOCK MODE, motor cranks but does not start. TOW the car to a dealership gather up all the keys and have nissan reprogram all of them they can and cut a couple of extra keys. Really Good Lock Smiths! with computerized Key systems can do it also.
1999 nissan maxima won't start. changed fuel pump and have spark?
Well you first need to find out if there is fuel pump pressure. Just changing the pump doesent mean there is pressure. Next you need to find if there is an injector pulse( meaning the injuctors are fireing. You need what is called a noud( from the auto store). THis device will flash when it id conected to the injuctor plug. If there is no pausle then you have a crank and or a cam senser out and it will have spark but will not turn on the injuctors.
Not sure on the question however hope this will help all those before shelling out thousands of dollars to those crooks called mechanics.. This is the problem I ran into. Cold starts dies out unless you rev up your engine. 1. Clean Mass Air Sensor with spray %26quot;MAF%26quot;.. 2. Get a Intake Cleaner/Carb Cleaner and spary the intake. Gas once dried can become thick and stickie. 3. Clear your codes from any Autozone for free. This should be your solution to your O2's, Knock Sensor, Misfire, Idle Control etc etc readings. It worked for me and hopefully will work for you. It's quite simple Keep your intake clean and replace filter regularly. Air and Gas creates the engines power and if not mixed properly with restrictions the computer will go crazy and will not be sure what the actual problem is.. I think its Nissan's scam.. = ) God Bless

How do you change the fuel pump in a 2001 Chevy Cavalier?
You have to drop the gas tank. The pump is probably in the tank (not sure of 2001 pump placement). Before you drop the tank, jack up the back of the car, support it well with jack stands, and look just in front of the tank. It could be located there.

How do you change the fuel pump in a 2001 Chevy Cavalier?
You have to raise the car up very high. You have to drain the gas tank, then lower the gas tank down by undoing all the tank straps. Then un bolt the old fuel pump off the top of the tank and then put the new one on. Then repeat the process. Its strenious if you dont have enough height when you lift the car..

I changed my fuel pump regulator and my truck will not start, what do i need to check?
You need to have the fuel pump pressure checked.
If there is no pressure check these things before you change the pump
The fuse
The rely
I changed my fuel pump regulator and my truck will not start, what do i need to check?
Alternator, if it has one, starter, plugs and wires, fan belts.
I changed my fuel pump regulator and my truck will not start, what do i need to check?
air in the fuel rail. look for what looks like a tire valve on the fuel rail.take the cap off depress the needle valve inside while someone cranks the truck,do this until gas starts to come out.truck should start.Did you change you fuel filter? Are you sure the regulator was the problem? Might have a bad fuel pump.
maybe fuel pump was the problem? check for fuel pressure and spark.

LUMINA 2006-Problem with fuel pump?
My car is Lumnia 2006 LS. It has a continuous sound from back side while engine working. My mechanic said this is due to the problem with fuel pump. There is no missing. Can it run without changing fuel pump? Is it costly to change the fuel pump?
LUMINA 2006-Problem with fuel pump?
If you mean a motor type sound it is only the fuel pump energizing. If you do not experience any performance problems then leave it alone. You did not give specific problem, such as stalling, hesitation or no acceleration.
