Will changing the fuel pump and fuel filter help the bad idle in my car.?

My car idles bad at standstill and when taking off. Im having to push the gas pedal in more to take off at stop lights and signs therefore I feel like Im sucking up my gas.I drive a 02%26#039; Benz E320.|||Contributors to bad idling maybe one of the following, fouled spark plugs, fouled wires, faulty distributor caps, bad injectors, or most simply wet spark plugs. Check these first before touching the fuel pump.|||It may, but it may not. It could be that the computer is getting bad signals from other parts of the car, causing rough idle.

Take it to a dealer and have them diagnose it.|||Do the filter first--the pump either works or it doesn%26#039;t. Change the air filter too|||When was the last time it had a %26quot;B%26quot; service?|||Try a bottle(large) of TECHRON from CHEVRON...fantastic for cleaning injectors, intakes, and smoothing out the idle...

it%26#039;s about $10-12 for a large bottle ,but WELL worth the $$$|||I like ginomonpon%26#039;s answer. Were new spark plugs mentioned? Make sure you get the right sort. Also be sure the plug leads are good, but the car might need special MB leads.

Some people have found that making the spark plug gap 5 thousandths of an inch wider helps with the idle in some older models like the W126 (81 -91). Worth a try and you can always put it back to original if it does not work.

Look for vacuum leaks too. I doubt the fuel pump is the problem, if it is running and not making noises it is OK. Would not hurt putting in a new filter though.|||Let%26#039;s put it this way.....Can%26#039;t hurt|||You might have have a bad plug wire or two. 112 engines have two plugs per cylinder and sometimes a wire can go bad and cause an intermittent misfire without turning on the check engine light. Rust can also build up in the fuel rail and partially clog the injectors because the fuel doesn%26#039;t have a return to the tank on that engine.|||It is more than likely you plug wires and spark plugs, I believe their is 2 per cylinder with coils mounted on the rocker cover. While at the dealership we ran into this quite often
