GM did update the fuel pump for the 95-99 Astros and S-10s. The problem is if you don't replace the entire module, that is, pump, sending unit, and sock, you don't get the update. If you just replace the pump, the problems will continue. As for the front suspension, GM has had a problem with idler arms for as long as I can remember. It became such a problem with idler arms going bad that GM released a memo in 1998 that the idler arms can have as much as 3/4 inch of play, and should be tested with the vehicle on the ground. Shops were lifting the vehicles and grabbing the center link to show you how 'bad' the play is, and were being improperly tested. If the center link won't move with the weight of the vehicle on the suspension, the idler arms aren't bad. Your vehicle has 2 of them. Don't let a shop hang the vehicle in the air to show you how bad the idler arms are. As for ball joints and tie rod ends on that model, you should be good for at least 100k-110k.

yes torsion bars drop yet its a doosy of one
gm had a problem with the fuel pumps they was using back in the late 90,s but they corrected that one,you may be getting bad pumps it has happened to me a few times,as for the suspension, probably just a bushing worn out or something, but have it checked really good, good luck with it.
As far as i know they have the same pumps as the blazers and S-10s and i have had 2 go out on my blazer but that is just me but anyway i wish you the best of luck.... J-rod
