my pu wouldn't start right away a few times, i changed the fuel filter, the fuel pump is working. when i turn it over fuel comes out of the hose on the bottom of the filter housing, the drain switch is turned off.

Also if you are having trouble with it, there is a change over kit that places the pump inside the fuel tank. The lift pump has shown to be very unreliable and can cause injector pump failure.
