How do you change a fuel pump on a 75 nova?

If it's an old style mechanical fuel pump that's bolted to the lower engine, simply disconnect the fuel line and unbolt the pump. Replace with the new pump from http://www.autozone.com A http://www.haynes.com manual for your car will help.

remove the fuel lines( in and out) remove the two bolts holding the pump in place.. scrape off the old gasket..and replace the gasket then the pump and lines..

I'm assuming you have a small block V8

鈥?Remove the fuel lines

鈥?Remove the two 3/8 bolts on the pump

鈥?Remove the top 3/8 bolt next to the harmonic balancer [front of engine] next to fuel pump.

鈥?Push the fuel pump push rod up until it contacts the cam (should be only about 陆%26quot; exposed)

鈥?Place a longer 3/8 NC bolt in the front of the engine to hold the push rod in place. DO NOT tighten too much or you will bend the push rod.

鈥?Scrape off the old gasket

鈥?Install new fuel pump

鈥?Replace 3/8 bolt in the front of the engine with the original

鈥?Reattach your fuel lines

is very easy, an Les you are educated;then you are enable to do it.is 2 screws and Poul the pump ,with upward motion.clean the old gasket, do not move the engine,revers to pout it back.
If you were in doubt of wich answer is correct.....I'll stand by MrT on this one follow all his instructions and you'll be fine.....make sure you remember to put the fuel pump rod back in and new gaskets....
Watch out here as the fuel pump push-rod from the camshaft must be first slid upward so that the mechanical lever on the fuel pump can be installed under it. You'll know you have done it correctly when the fuel pump fits flush with the block.



Occasionally it's necessary to bump the motor very slightly with the starter so the push rod fully retracts upward inside the block.
that first guy bob somethin said to go to autozone. I wouldnt buy a damned bottle of oil at retardzone!! Go 2 a parts store with quality stuff like napa or oriely even advance
Mr t is right also some times the rod wont stay up you can take some clean bearing grease and put alittle on the rod this will help hold it a little longer also what is up with all the autozone answers? i would not let half of them check my gas cap!
