What is the easiest way to change a fuel pump on a 95 monte carlo?

If you're in the north, meaning that cars rust, cut a 6%26quot; x 6%26quot; three sided flap over the tank. Peel this up, change the pump then flatten it %26amp; seal it. With this short cut, you can do the job even with a full tank, =^ )

I like the 1st answer regardless of where you live, but the question is how big and where in the trunk do you cut the access panel?

Proper way to change the pump is to drop the fuel tank and the easiest way is to take it to a shop and open your wallet :)

I know a few people who cut the access hole, but I alway just drop the tank. I never liked the idea of throwing sparks with a grinder while cutting the hole or the fact the the car will have a hole in it now.
their is only one way. Follow these general steps and you should be ok. Once again this is only a suggestion:

1. turn car off, open hood, and disconnect the battery.

2. place parking stops or blocks under the front tires.

3. jack up the rear end of the car and set each side on jack stands.

4. dissconnect the filler neck.

5. place jack under fuel tank and just jack the arm up till it touches the fuel cell.

6. take your impact gun and loosen the straps that hold the fuel cell.

7. slowly lower the fuel cell with the jack.

8. disconnect all lines on the fuel pump and wires as well.

9. remove the lock ring from the fuel pump.

10. remove the fuel pump from the fuel cell.

11. installation is the reverse of what you just did.

the only thin easier than this is to have a local auto tech do it for you instead. They sweat and you ask how long is this gonna take.
r p got it that works
