Fuel pump Need to be changed Nissan 1999 pathfinder?

I have a Nissan Pathfinder with 162,000 miles on it. I have never replaced the fuel pump on it. I am currently not having any problems with the pathfinder running. I am taking it to the shop to get the fuel filter changed soon should I get the fuel pump replaced also due to he high milage ?

if your going to take that attitude you may as well replace the engine and trans as well

nissan fuel pumps are good ones some of them you don't need to pull the tank to replace don't replace it until you have a problem its not a scheduled maintenance item it may out last the car

spend your cash on a night out with your wife/ girlfriend you will get more value for that

Preventative maintenance is a good thing but not all fuel pumps go bad. Some fuel pumps will last the life of a car and some even longer. Typically this part is not replaced until it goes bad, for that reason.
You dont need to change the fuel pump for preventive maintenance.
No, I wouldn't. It could last forever.

Is the filter in the tank? The pump probably is.

Remember this old Air Force maintenance adage, %26quot;If it ain't broke, keep fixing it until it is broke.%26quot;
No, the only time I've seen a fuel pump fail was because of the wiring at the pump. The wires get corroded and break off. A customer was told the whole gas tank would need to be replaced because the screws holding the pump housing to the tank always break off. If the wires break off the pump terminals I have used a 1/16%26quot; drill bit and drilled 1/4%26quot; into the brass terminal block on the pump housing, then crimp an eye connector to the broken wire/wires and re-fasten them using sheet metal screws. It takes about 20 minutes and saves $500 or more in repair costs. The pump is still working 2 years later. If the filter is rusted and won't come off just leave it, gas is pretty clean now days and most vehicles don't have replaceable filters anymore.
well i have worked on cars a while and if your not having any problems i wouldn't there are signs of a bad fuel pump poor mileage or running rough but some just go all of a sudden so its really your call its your dollar
