Where is the fuel pump located on a 2002 Ford Escort?

I believe that I have to change the fuel pump in my car because whenever I drive it it dies on me but it comes right back on. I have already changed the fuel filter so I assume its the fuel pump but I don't know where it is. Can someone help me please!!

I don't know for sure, but am guessing that it's located inside of the fuel tank. That's where most electric fuel pumps are. And the car is way too late model to have a mechanical pump located on the side of the engine.

I'm not positive on a 02 but on my 86 it was in the rear up by the gas tank
Your fuel pump is in the gas tank, but I wouldn't change it until it tested bad. You need to test the fuel pressure.

Most fuel injection engines are in the gas tank, but most cars have two fuel filters, one one the firewall inside the engine conpartment and one near the gas tank inline with the fuel lines.also check your air filter to see if it needs changing because it will cause the same problems and eat up fuel because it isnt getting enough air for the air to fuel mixture.

Good luck and hopr this helps.
Behind the engine . some coupld be black powerd coat , brass, or sliver .
The fuel pump is in the tank. Most Escorts have an access cover on the passenger side under the rear seat to get to the fuel pump. Beats the heck out of dropping the tank, trust me!
in the gas tank...on almost all modern cars the pump is in the gas tank
as with most vehicles that where made in 1990 or newer the fuel pump should more than likely be in the gas tank.
