Why should you change fuel fitler when you change pump?

Its cheap insurance and most if not all fuel pump warranties will not apply unless you chage the filter and the screen in the tank. Also Debris from the failed pump could clog the filter. I would work with your mechanic and see if he wold allow you to buy the parts yourself to save money. Sources like Rockauto.com are great.

just do it..

fuel filter are like what, 15 bucks?
If your pump came apart, then little pieces of plastic will get sucked into your filter. Change it for your sake.
i think a year is a little long to be going on a filter neways but i dont think that it would cause the pump to fail unless you have just a dangerously amount of trash in the tank. but then it still wouldnt run very good if it was plugged up too..
Because when the fuel pump dies it can pump tiny wear particles of itself into the fuel line while it is going bad.
USUALLY YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOU'RE FUEL FILTER ABOUT EVERY 35000 MILES YOU KNOW IT'S CHEAPER THAN A TOW
