Is this a high mileage car or have you been using really cheap fuel??? The fuel pump is accessible through a cover plate located wither under the rear seat or in the most rear portion of the trunk. If you have been using a fuel with a high alcohol content (Sunoco) or other non-top tier fuel, sometimes the acids present can ruin the fuel pump over time. Most German fuel pumps can last the lifetime of the car. Remember that fuel does 2 things. It provides power to the engine, but it also provide cooling and lubrication to the fuel pump (and other fuel components). %26quot;Cheap%26quot; fuels have been known to cause premature failure of fuel pumps and fuel gages in nearly all brands of cars. At least you won't have to drop your gas tank, like on most American cars, to get to your pump. Also, be sure that the power supply to your pump is not compromised. Keep all power supply and ground wires UNDER YOUR HOOD show-room clean at all times. Male sure that you battery terminals are clean and that the negative (ground) wire is not corroded or compromised in any way. Before you start to remove your fuel pump, make sure that your fuel pump relay is functional. Good Luck!!
