Mercury 98 Tracer, fuel pump changed last year. After that I started to experience strong fuel odor if I had the tank full for the first 20-25 miles; fuel like odor (not as strong) at or after 3000 RPM. Need to turn the ignition twice to get the car running without problems. Thanks in advance.
What would be the reason for fuel pump whirring noise?
The gasket around the top of the tank which is where the pump is located(inside the tank) either wasent replaced or wasent set correct or one of the bolts were not tightend enough...assuming it's an internal pump
